The children's author David Walliams lost his contract with book publisher.

David Walliams

Acclaimed writer for children and entertainer David Walliams is no longer with his publisher HarperCollins UK, according to an announcement.

An official for the firm said: "After careful consideration, and following the appointment of its recently appointed chief executive, HarperCollins UK will not be releasing any new titles by David Walliams."

It has been reported that the move was taken subsequent to an inquiry regarding reports of conduct deemed unsuitable directed at young women.

The publisher did not confirm the specific rationale behind the move, stating: "We do not comment on confidential company decisions."

A Prolific Publishing History

Walliams ranks among Britain's most successful children's authors, having sold in excess of 60 million copies internationally in dozens of tongues.

The debut children's novel from Walliams, *The Boy in the Dress*, was published by HarperCollins back in 2008.

A number of his works, such as *Gangsta Granny* and *Billionaire Boy*, have found new life as TV movies.

He has published in excess of 40 works altogether, encompassing a festive story named *Santa & Son*, which was released through HarperCollins this past October.

A Dual Career

He first rose to fame on the television comedy show *Little Britain* and has been honored with National Television Awards for his work as a judge on *Britain's Got Talent*.

He was made an OBE back in 2017 for his services to charity and the arts.

The publisher's decision comes after the naming of Kate Elton as HarperCollins UK's freshly installed boss this past October.
