Homages Flow for Rob and Michele Reiner as Medical Examiner's Findings Remain Under Wraps.
Over a fortnight after the tragic deaths of esteemed filmmaker Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, friends and colleagues are still paying respects to the couple.
A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Remembers His Director
Writing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, explained he just recently felt prepared to share openly about his personal sorrow.
"Sufficient time has passed that I can at last articulate my loss into words," wrote Elwes, noting that his introductory moment with Reiner made him fall in love. "Once we started spending more time together I realized this was someone I desired in my life."
The actor shared never-before-seen clips from the production, commenting that he doesn't recollect "a single day without mirth".
"The film is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Principles that Rob valued immensely. That is part of the many reasons he was the best person to direct it," Elwes expressed.
He additionally honored Michele Reiner, noting: "To say that they were a formidable pair would be an understatement. My heart still pangs every time I remember you." He finished with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
Martin Scorsese Recalls a Colleague and Comrade
In a separate piece, revered director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he first met in the 1970s.
"From the start, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a instant connection for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese wrote.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, portraying the father of the protagonist.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a expert at comedy, he worked seamlessly with his co-stars, and he understood the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese noted.
Court Proceedings: Autopsy Reports Sealed
Recently, a Los Angeles court official ruled to block the publication of the Reiners' autopsy reports, after an appeal from the local authorities.
A legal directive issued a restriction on the investigation to limit the public release of "all case details, evidence and photographs" pertaining to the active case.
