Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Allegations Connected to Wide Receiver Rashee Rice
The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment on Wednesday evening indicating they are aware of claims of abuse made public in social media posts by a ex-partner of wide receiver the athlete and were in contact with the NFL.
The organization did not mention the player by name in their statement and noted they would have “no further comment at this time”.
Allegations Posted on Instagram
Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name the athlete directly, shared a series of photos on social media that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. Jones did say the person involved was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has two children with the football player, whom the Chiefs drafted in the second round.
Police Reports Reportedly Unavailable
No official complaints were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have taken place.
Player's Recent Off-Field Troubles
The receiver was absent for the first six games of this NFL campaign due to an NFL suspension for his involvement in instigating a crash on a Texas roadway that left several individuals hurt. Rice was given a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.
On the field, he finished the year with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five TDs as the Kansas City went with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a decade.
